As part of Art Walk Porty we sang Weave the Willow at Anna’s basketmaking studio open house on Sept 14th and taught the song to everyone there. It was lovely singing to the willow and taking in all the smells of the workshop. Anna explained all the basketry terms in the song with visual cues.

We celebrated 10 years of Portobello Community Choir with a free Day of Song attended by a wonderful range of singers – those who have sung with us right from the start; newer members and some people who had never sung with us before! We were delighted that Chandra Mather joined Jane to lead the singing – Jane and Chandra set up the choir together in 2014.
Many thanks to Jon Davey for these lovely photos.
We were delighted to be joined by workers from Edinburgh Shoreline who told us about the Restoration Forth project which is reintroducing Oysters and Seagrass into the Forth. We sang Jane’s new Dabberlocks Kelp song, written as part of the Edinburgh Shoreline 100 Species Project, and Penny Stone’s Oyster Catcher song – another of the birds on the 100 species list. We also heard from Jenny Pope about her Buoyancy in Unprecedented Times Art Walk Porty residency and sang two songs that will be included in the coracle launching ceremony on September 10th. Many thanks for Jon Davey for these fabulous photos.
We ran a singing workshop on Portobello Beach attended by around 70 people on Friday 17th June as part of Porty Pride. Thanks to Jon Davey for these great photos.
Come and join us for our summer concert on Wednesday 26th June at 8pm at Portobello Baptist Church.
On Saturday 26th January 2019 over 50 people gathered at the Donkeyfield Community Orchard to wassail the trees with hearty songs, spiced apple juice and cake. Many thanks again to Jon Davey for the great photos.
We had a great time singing as part of Art Walk Porty in Porotbello on Saturday 1st September and oat the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street gardens on 8th September. We performed Ross Whyte’s piece The Great Exhibition – part of the Bandstands project – and are singing on the bandstands app.
